Дэвид Дейчес (David Daiches, 2 сентября 1912 – 15 июля 2005) был шотландским историком литературы, исследователем и писателем. Он писал о многих сторонах английской литературы, шотландской литературы и шотландской культуры.

Начало жизни
Он родился в Сандерленде, в еврейской семье с литовскими корнями, о чём написал в вышедшей в 1956 году книге "Два слова: эдинбургское еврейское детство".Он переехал в Эдинбург ещё маленьким ребёнком, близко к концу Первой мировой войны, когда его отец, преподобный доктор Салис Дейчес стал раввином эдинбургской еврейской общины и основателем городского отделения Бней Брит. Он учился в колледже Джорджа Уотсона и выиграл степендию на обучение в Эдинбургском университете (вместе с премией Эллиота). Он поехал в Оксфорд как работник Элтонской научной выставки и был избран членом преподавательского состава Баллиол-колледжа в Оксфорде в 1936 году.
Дойчес - отец Дженни Калдер, также историка шотландской литературы. Его брат Лайонел Дейчес был известным в Эдинбурге королевским адвокатом.
